Place Thermometer Next To Seed TraysPut a thermometer next to your seed trays to determine the ambient air temperature, but remember that inside of a covered tray it will be hotter. In general, a temperature of 75 to 85 degrees F seems to work best when the fluorescent lights are ON. When the lights turn OFF, it is best if the temperature drops into the 60’s as this makes the plants more resistant to the colder temperatures they will experience in the outside garden. Try to avoid a ‘constant temperature’ environment, such as most kitchens or dining room areas, as the young plants will not develop the temperature-tolerance strength they will require later in their lives. Constant temperature plants look and grow great indoors but tend to be poor performers outdoors.
